The Alpine Coaster at the Kolbensattel in Oberammergau

„.. one of the best all-weather toboggan runs in Germany..“ (SZ from 30.06.2023)

No, the Alpine Coaster only operates from March to November.

The Alpine Coaster is closed in the winter months from mid-November to the end of March.

The Alpine Coaster is a weatherproof toboggan run with magnetic brakes and can also be ridden in damp weather or light rain.

However, in the event of a thunderstorm, storm or heavy rain, as well as poor visibility, e.g. due to fog, operation must be interrupted or stopped completely.

The driving time depends on the driving speed. It is usually between 6 and 10 minutes.

There may be waiting times at the chairlift and on the Alpine Coaster, especially during the main holiday periods. We therefore recommend a visit in the morning for tobogganing with the Alpine Coaster, as the waiting times are then mostly limited. If you have already purchased your ticket for the Alpine Coaster ride, you can also use the chairlift for the descent at no extra charge. If you decide to hike into the valley, the ticket for the Alpine Coaster only loses its validity after end of the summer season (app. November) and can be used on another day. You will be informed about the current waiting time on a board at the cash desk of the valley station from the chair lift.

This mainly depends on the other drivers on the track.

A minimum distance of 25 meters must always be maintained (even 50 meters in wet conditions) - this distance must not be less than this, so you must always be ready to brake!

Please always remember that the person who hits the previous sled is always fully liable!

Children aged 8 and over are allowed to ride alone if they are at least 1.40 meters tall - both have to be fulfilled.

Children who are at least 3 years old but cannot drive alone can ride with an adult driver (16 years or older and at least 1.40 m tall).

Children aged 3 and over are allowed to ride with an adult (aged 16 and over and at least 1.40 meters tall). Attention - proof of the child's age is required!

No, unfortunately that is not possible. All sleds have two seats and two seat belts.

No, unfortunately that is not possible.

No, no animals are allowed on the Alpine Coaster.

The maximum weight per sled is 150 kg. In order to be able to ride the Alpine Coaster, it is also essential that the seat belt can be closed properly.

No, you are not allowed to carry any luggage, sticks or umbrellas on the Alpine Coaster.

You can have your handbags, backpacks, sticks, umbrellas, etc. transported to the valley free of charge with the Kolben chairlift, but we cannot assume any liability for this.

If the Alpine Coaster has to be closed due to weather, your unused tickets will remain valid until the end of the summer season (probably November).

A return or refund is not possible.

No, this is not possible. There is also no online sales, you can only buy the tickets directly on site.

The taller person sits in the back and must be at least 16 years old.

Only the person sitting in the back operates the levers to drive or brake.

If it is wet or even raining, it is not possible for two adults to ride in one sled.

Up to a maximum weight of 150 kg, it is possible for two adults to ride together in dry weather.

However, in wet weather, for safety reasons, only one person can ride per sled (exception - children who cannot yet ride alone due to age or height).

The entrance to the Alpine Coaster is at the mountain station on the Kolbensattel.

You can get there either on foot (shortest climb approx. 1 1/4 hours) or comfortably with the Kolben chairlift.

Our facilities are not barrier-free and are only partially handicapped-accessible.

Toilets:

A disabled toilet is located in the sanitary container on the mountain next to the Kolbensattel Lodge. There are no other toilets suitable for disabled people.
